The Grants & Development Associate will primarily conduct research and write grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and other grant-making organizations, and will persuasively communicate Reach Out and Read's mission and programs to potential funders. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Development, the Grants & Development Associate will assemble and submit grant requests, establish and maintain personal contact and relationships with foundation contacts, conduct prospect research, and maintain a calendar of submissions and other deadlines.

- Identify and research prospective grant opportunities through online databases, such as the Foundation Directory online, through annual reports and donor lists of other organizations, and through suggestions from the Reach Out and Read Board and staff members;
- Develop and write grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and other grant-making organizations, persuasively communicating the organization's mission and programs to potential funders;
- Prepare and submit high quality proposals each week for the Reach Out and Read National Center and Coalitions;
- Establish and maintain personal contact and relationships with foundation contacts and program officers;
- Maintain calendar to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, proposal deadlines, and reports;
- Run and maintain weekly reports of corporate and foundation solicitations, their status, and anticipated results and terms of commitments (i.e. gift restrictions);
- Report on awarded grants as needed;
- Provide supplemental information to prospects and funders, if required;
- Prioritize projects to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner;
- Provide support in developing budgets as needed; and
Other responsibilities as requested by the Deputy Director of Development.

The Program Specialist ensures that high-quality Reach Out and Read programs are delivered to children and families in their assigned region. By establishing collaborative relationships with medical providers and staff at multiple program sites and providing professional development services and technical assistance, the Program Specialist provides the support programs need to operate with strong fidelity to the Reach Out and Read model. The Program Specialist has frequent contact with their assigned programs through in-person visits and phone/email and develops champions for the Reach Out and Read program among medical providers and staff.

Technical Assistance and Professional Development Support:
- Have regular contact with programs to develop relationships with clinical and administrative staff in order to assess quality, deliver support and identify additional needs.
- Assess programs' adherence to the Reach Out and Read program model and assign quality ratings.
- Create and implement technical assistance plans to support programs' efforts to reach a higher level of program quality as needed.
- Support programs' implementation of program quality improvement processes, monitor progress, and reassess, in partnership with the programs.
- Conduct site visits to programs in assigned region with a frequency appropriate for sites' identified needs and quality rating.
- Cultivate Reach Out and Read champions and advocates from among each clinic's medical providers and staff.
- Support program leaders to identify and overcome barriers that negatively impact their program's quality and sustainability.
- Ensure all programs have training processes in place for their providers, so that existing and new providers are able to provide a high quality program
- Offer all providers ongoing professional development opportunities, and continually assess opportunities for professional development services that programs would find helpful.
- Guide new programs through the process of applying, training providers, and implementing Reach Out and Read.
- In collaboration with the Program and Operations Director, convene Reach Out and Read site coordinators and/or medical consultants at least annually to discuss best practices, support and enhance programs, and facilitate dissemination of relevant information (by teleconference, workshop and/or meeting).
- Contribute to Reach Out and Read Washington State monthly program newsletter and other tools developed for communication with programs.

Program Data and Reporting:
- Assure programs' completion of twice-yearly progress report.
- Review progress report data for assigned programs and use it to inform technical assistance plans and quality ratings for each program.
- Continually track and document quantitative and qualitative program data using established tools and databases.
- Provide data summaries for assigned region to support funding applications, partnership development and advocacy activities, as requested.

Book Support and Funding:
- Support programs in selection and ordering of books to meet the needs of their patients.
- Provide support for efficient tracking processes to support accurate data collection and reporting
- Document programs' book funding sources. Assist programs to identify and pursue new local funding opportunities, as needed.
- Assist the Regional Director with fund development and advocacy in connection with programs (e.g. arrange Site Visits for prospective or existing donors or legislators).
- Identify programs in need of book funding support and collaborate with the Program and Operations Director in the allocation of Washington State funding to individual programs.
- Regular travel, approximately 50% time throughout Washington, plus availability to attend one to two national meetings per year is required.

The Executive Director will be a results-oriented, experienced, and entrepreneurial professional who provides overall leadership for Reach Out and Read in Georgia, with a targeted primary focus on fundraising, as well as overseeing program staff. Based in Atlanta, the Executive Director is a visible leader for Reach Out and Read in Georgia and a valued strategic partner for Reach Out and Read nationally, actively cultivating and maintaining public and private partnerships. The Executive Director creates and demonstrates passion for Reach Out and Read, enhances Reach Out and Read's name recognition, expands our presence in Georgia, and consistently demonstrates an attitude of professionalism and leadership.
Chief Executive Officer
The primary functions of this position consist of the following:
Fundraising: The Executive Director oversees all fundraising and philanthropic aspects of the Reach Out and Read program in Georgia, including foundation, corporation, government, and individual support. Working with Reach Out and Read national staff, the Executive Director creates and implements long-term development strategies that encompass both current need and future growth, with an overall goal of ensuring the sustainability of Reach Out and Read Programs, both nationally and throughout Georgia. Specifically, the Executive Director:
- Sets and achieves assertive fund development goals, raising $1,000,000 by end of the second year. Possible strategies would be to:
- Develop a core base of foundation and corporation support of at least $400,000 per year. Develop a base of individual donors and retain at least 80% of current individual donors.
- Work with national staff to raise state government funding.
- Coordinate Reach Out and Read annual solicitation mailings (at least one per year) with the goal of increasing the number of donors and amount donated by 10% annually.
- Coordinate Site Visits with funders (minimum of one per month) to expand knowledge of the Program.
- Develop and maintain a portfolio of prospects to be cultivated, solicited, and stewarded in their philanthropic relationship with Reach Out and Read.
- Establish and implement a program of fundraising among trade associations, fraternal organizations, and civic groups to increase support from these organizations.
- Identify opportunities for long-term sustainability and growth within the Region.
- Together with Reach Out and Read national staff, develops annual goals and strategies to raise additional unrestricted private funds, above and beyond the minimum mentioned above, that support Reach Out and Read in Georgia and Reach Out and Read.
- Ensures sufficient resources so that all of Georgia's Reach Out and Read Programs have appropriate quantity and quality of books.
Communications and Public Relations: The Executive Director works collaboratively and strategically to represent the organization throughout the state and nationally, as well as develop key partnerships. The Executive Director develops and implements strategies to increase visibility and brand awareness of Reach Out and Read. Specifically, the Executive Director:
- Participates in all high priority national public relations initiatives.
- Implements and maintains local, regional and statewide partnerships to help Reach Out and Read Programs throughout Georgia become integrated within early learning and family support systems.
- Participates as a panelist or keynote at a minimum of two statewide/regional/community conferences annually.
- Provides information and support to Reach Out and Read Programs about partnership opportunities that can help sustain and enhance their Programs.
- Plans and implements efforts which both broaden and deepen the engagement of doctors and the healthcare system in early learning.
- Participates in regular conference calls and meetings with Reach Out and Read colleagues nationally.
Leadership and Management: The Executive Director oversees the Reach Out and Read program and it's Program Sites throughout Georgia, setting and implementing a plan for strategic expansion, while focusing on the long-term sustainability of the program. The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring success of all aspects of the program in Georgia. Specifically, the Executive Director:
- Develops a strategic three-year expansion plan, quantifying the number of new Programs started and additional children served each year, and providing specific action steps to accomplish these goals.
- Develops and maintains a strong Executive Advisory Board, comprised of individuals committed to serving their community and providing actionable services to Reach Out and Read.
- Develops and administers Georgia's annual budget, and manages and oversees monthly finances.
- Performs other duties as assigned or as necessary.
