Become a Corporate Partner of Reach Out and Read and Help Millions of Children Grow Up With Books and a Love of Reading

Reach Out and Read (ROR) owes much of our success to the generosity and strong support of our corporate partners. They have made possible both ROR's rapid expansion across the United States and our low-cost, high-efficiency delivery model.

As the nation's leader in early literacy, ROR has worked with our partners to develop a wide variety of cause-related marketing campaigns, many of which have won awards for their creativity and innovation.

ROR has been endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics and was the only American literacy organization featured at the White House Conference on Global Literacy. ROR has also been recognized for our fiscal responsibility and outstanding performance by Charity Navigator (Four Star Charity Award), by Fast Company Magazine and the Monitor Group (Social Capitalist Award), and the Independent Charities of America (Seal of Excellence). In 2007, ROR was one of five organizations worldwide to receive the Confucius Prize for Literacy from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.

The Reach Out and Read Community includes:
52,000 Doctors, Nurses and Medical Providers
Medical Staffs at 4,535 Hospitals, Clinics, and Medical Practices
More than 20% of American Pediatricians
3.8 million Children and their Families (More than 25% of America's low-income children)
Thousands of Volunteers

Recent Successful Cause-Related Marketing Campaigns

Scholastic Books, Inc.
One of our longest-standing corporate partners, Scholastic has significantly supported ROR with hundreds of thousands of donated books for children throughout the country. Through Scholastic's “ClassroomsCare” initiative, 175,000 books were delivered to ROR sites around the country this year. This campaign earned Reach Out and Read and Scholastic Book Clubs the Gold Halo Award from Cause Marketing Forum in 2006. Our ongoing partnership has also supplied grants for programmatic support and events.

Target
ROR's national partnership with Target began in 2003 and continues to provide critical support for our mission to put books in the hands and homes of children. Target has made a multi-million dollar commitment to fund books and events as well as enhancements to waiting rooms with colorful, co-branded door hangers and posters that reinforce the ROR message.

The Healthcare Institute of New Jersey
HINJ is a trade association for the research-based pharmaceutical and medical technology industry in New Jersey. This special project has helped to support and expand ROR programming throughout the state of New Jersey. The partnership has provided: direct funding, in-kind book donations, support for developing a ROR infrastructure in NJ, creation of media access and recognition for the program, and access to medical providers.

Bank of New York Mellon
Longtime supporter Bank of New York Mellon has assisted in the germination and growth of ROR programming throughout Massachusetts and has helped the ROR National Center expand its reach and resources. Mellon's early support and belief in the program is an excellent example of what one funder's vision can accomplish. Mellon's partnership has gone beyond traditional fiscal support and expanded into capacity building through their strong presence on the ROR National Board of Directors. Recently, support provided through the Arthur F. Blanchard Trust allowed for the completion of a new re-training video that is being distributed to all ROR physicians. Reach Out and Read is delighted to be included as a part of Mellon's Corporate Perks Charitable Giving Program, facilitated by NextJump, Inc.

Brown Rudnick Charitable Foundation
Reach Out and Read continues its partnership with the Brown-Rudnick Charitable Foundation in 2008 through a Relationship Grant supporting ROR programs in three cities home to Brown Rudnick Berlack Israels offices: Boston, New York, and Providence. The grant will provide book purchasing funds, pro bono legal representation, and employee volunteer involvement.

Primrose Schools
ROR is entering our third year of a partnership with Primrose Schools, a leading franchisor of early education centers. In 2006 and 2007, students from Primrose Schools nationwide participated in school-based fundraising events in support of ROR, raising more than $250,000 for our program. In many communities, individual Primrose Schools also partnered with local ROR programs to deliver more books to ROR children. A series of check presentation events and a nationwide media campaign helped to raise awareness about the children's support of ROR.

Sovereign Bank
For three years, Sovereign Bank has hosted a Holiday Book Drive to benefit ROR. Last year, donations were collected during December from customers and team members at nearly 800 Sovereign Community Banking Offices in the Northeast U.S. Events were held at ROR sites near the top-fundraising branches to highlight Sovereign's generosity during the campaign and raise awareness about the program.

AmeriChoice
AmeriChoice, part of the UnitedHealth Group and a public sector healthcare provider, has been a long-time sponsor of Reach Out and Read in Maryland, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Recently AmeriChoice has played a significant role in our expansion efforts, providing funding and site-recruitment support in at-risk areas throughout the state of New Jersey.

Staples Foundation for Learning
The Staples Foundation for Learning became one of ROR's newest partners in 2007. Their generous grant supported the growth and expansion of ROR programs in Greater Miami. Local ROR programs participated in festivities surrounding the opening of new Staples stores in the area.
