FY08 Federal Funding Campaign
Reach Out and Read is still waiting for a final appropriation level for its federal FY08 funding. The Congress passed the FY08 Labor/HHS/Education appropriation bill in December, and included $3.9M for Reach Out and Read.

FY09 Federal Funding Campaign
We recently concluded our Appropriations Campaigns in the House and Senate. 121 Members of the House and 43 Members of the Senate supported our request for $10 million in FY09, a tremendous success given this difficult year.

Prescribe a Book Act
The Prescribe a Book Act (H.R. 4449/S.1895) would authorize a competitive grant program to support pediatric early literacy programs under Title I, Part B of the No Child Left Behind Act. We currently have 40 Senate cosponsors and are now working to secure cosponsors in the House for H.R. 4449.

Please contact your Representative today to ask them to cosponsor this bill. Visit our Legislative Action Center.

Hill Day 2008
In February, more than 60 Reach Out and Read Field Leaders, Medical Directors and Staff gathered in Washington D.C. for ROR's 5th annual Capitol Hill Day. We conducted 248 meetings with Members of Congress and their staff to educate them about ROR and to ask for their help on our federal funding efforts.
