About Reach Out and Read American Indian/Alaska Native
The American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) Reach Out and Read Coalition has 2 primary goals: (1) to expand the number of Indian Health Service (IHS), Tribal and Urban sites that participate in the ROR program; and (2) to increase the availability of Native-themed children's books. The Coalition was established in 2007 as a collaborative effort between the ROR National Center, the IHS, the CDC Native Diabetes Wellness Program, and the American Academy of Pediatrics' Committee on Native American Child Health. The Coalition will work to build awareness about the ROR program among IHS, Tribal, and Urban sites across the US, and make efforts to recruit at least 20 new ROR sites each year.
