Orange County Reach Out and Read (ROR-OC) is lead by the California Chapter 4, American Academy of Pediatrics and currently has 42 active programs. The coalition officially began in 2006 and consists of community partners including CHOC Children's Hospital, UCI Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente of Southern California (Orange County), and the Children and Families Commission of Orange County's, Early Literacy Program (ELP).
A partnership with the California Chapter 4, AAP and ELP has allowed ROR-OC to grow in a few short years from 6 programs to 42 active programs. California Chapter 4, AAP coordinates program recruitment, implementation, training and technical assistance, while the Early Literacy Program supports ROR efforts countywide through book supplies and a volunteer reader program.
Expansion of ROR-OC is ongoing, with an emphasis in the implementation of programs in high-need areas.
