Reach Out and Read is committed to delivering a high quality program at every one of its 4,500 Programs nationwide. To ensure that every child and family served by Reach Out and Read receives the same level of care and guidance, Reach Out and Read offers a variety of provider training programs, professional development opportunities for Coalition Leaders, and direct support to clinics around the country.

Between 2007 and 2009, 50 Reach Out and Read Programs in Florida and Massachusetts undertook Quality Improvement Initiatives to increase the proportion of eligible patients receiving books and parents receiving early literacy guidance at well-child visits.

Based on the success of those pilot initiatives, Reach Out and Read is now developing standardized program quality improvement tools that all Reach Out and Read Programs will be able to use to evaluate and improve their own performance.
