Sara Headshot

Sara Stewart is the Western Massachusetts Regional Coordinator at Reach Out and Read. She has a wide background in child development, health and early literacy. Her experience includes working as Program Director/Developmental Specialist at Community Health Programs, First Steps Early Intervention Program, teaching undergraduate Health Promotion courses at Coastal Carolina University, and as a Literacy Specialist for Raising a Reader at Child Care of the Berkshires. Sara has a Bachelor's Degree from Coastal Carolina University in Health Promotion and a Master's from Wheelock College in Child and Family Studies. She lives in Dalton with her husband, two preschool-aged sons and toddler daughter.




Alison Corning Clarke, MA, MSW, is the Massachusetts and Connecticut Programs Director at Reach Out and Read. She has an MSW from the University of Washington and a Master's Degree in Children's Literature from Simmons College. In addition to her clinical social work experience with children and families, she has worked in children's book publishing; as a volunteer organizing donated books at Cradles to Crayons; and as a board member of First Book, Boston.



Chris Garber

Christine Garber, MBA, is the Massachusetts and Connecticut Director of Development. As the Director of Development, Christine Garber works with our National staff to create and implement a long-term development strategy in order to sustain and grow our programs in both Connecticut and Massachusetts. She is responsible for fundraising, budgeting, public relations and communications and community relationship development. In her six years at Reach Out and Read she has also served as the Executive Director and Programs Director for Connecticut. Prior to working at Reach Out and Read, Garber worked as an Employee Benefits Underwriter with CIGNA Healthcare and Oxford Health Plans. Garber also worked at Yale School of Medicine in their Finance Department. Garber has a Bachelor's of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts and a Master's of Business Administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.




Marilyn Augustyn MD is the Massachusetts Reach Out and Read Medical Director, and Director of the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at Boston Medical Center/Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Augustyn is a member of the Executive Committee of the Society for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics and has published widely in the fields of autism, childhood witness to violence, and early language development. She is a co-editor of The Zuckerman Parker Handbook of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics for Primary Care and the online journal Up-to-Date.

Reach Out and Read's thousands of doctors and nurses promote early literacy and school readiness to young children and their families in all 50 states. Each year, medical providers at the nearly 5,000 Reach Out and Read program sites nationwide distribute 6.5 million books to children and invaluable literacy advice to parents.
