Notes from the July 2009 Progress Report
We always appreciate hearing additional feedback from Program Coordinators on the Progress Report. We look to your comments to gain a better understanding of the challenges and benefits of running the Reach Out and Read Program. Here is what some of you had to say:
"Our parents and children love this program as well as the physicians in our practice. We have seen more parents reading to their children while waiting for their appointments. The look on the children's faces when they receive their new book at their well-child visits is priceless!" (ROR Coordinator, NY)
"The program has been very positive for our community and our agency. Some local teachers have stated that they are glad we are encouraging the sharing of books and reading at an early age. Parents are also reflecting excitement by inquiring if their child will be receiving a book when they make a visit to the clinic. Our staff takes pleasure in being able to provide our children and their family with a new book." (ROR Coordinator, KY)
"By March 2009, we created a literacy-rich waiting room with a reading-oriented children's rug and bookcase…In addition, with the help of ROR donation guidelines, we were able to successfully conduct a book drive in July 2009 to collect gently-used books for our literacy-rich waiting room and for siblings of eligible children." (ROR Coordinator, CO)
ROR wants to hear from you!
We are looking for stories about children and their families who have benefited from the ROR Program. Send along your stories to info@reachoutandread.org. |
