Reach Out and Read is grateful to our past and present National Sponsors. Thanks to their generosity and commitment,
Reach Out and Read continues to serve millions of children in need, and helps prepare our nation's children for success in reading,
and in school.
Here are some partnerships Reach Out and Read has developed with National Sponsors:
One of America's largest retailers, Target has 1,740 stores in 49 states. Since 1946, the corporation has given
5 percent of its income to support communities in the areas of education, the arts, social services, and volunteerism.
Through Target's partnership with Reach Out and Read, local Programs and national literacy initiatives receive support.
Scholastic's global mission is to help children read and learn. Scholastic executives volunteer on Reach Out and Read regional and national
boards and advisory boards. The company provides discounted books to Reach Out and Read providers. Through its annual "ClassroomCares"
program, teachers across the country encourage their students to read and support Reach Out and Read. Scholastic provides donated books
based on sales from "ClassroomsCare."
Primrose is a leading franchiser of early education centers, with 200 schools around the country. The schools serve the
premium childcare consumer but need to be measurably involved in charitable support of their communities. Through the Reach Out and Read
partnership, Primrose families and franchisees around the country support low income children in their communities through
an annual "spring fling." Franchisees received recognition to providing more than 80,000 books in 2008.
BAE Systems is a global defense and aerospace company with two dozen facilities in North America. As a sponsor of Reach Out and Read's
Military Initiative, corporate philanthropy is used to purchase children's books that address the special challenges
facing military children. In addition, BAE executives are volunteering their time to help Reach Out and Read strengthen its organization
and procedures.
P&G is a global company, providing household products and services to consumers in over 180 countries. Reach Out and Read receives
support through the P&G Live, Learn and Thrive initiative, P&G's commitment to improving life for young children in need.
HINJ is a trade association for the research-based pharmaceutical and medical technology industry in New Jersey. This
special project has helped to support and expand Reach Out and Read programming throughout the state of New Jersey. The partnership
has provided: direct funding, in-kind book donations, support for developing a Reach Out and Read infrastructure in NJ, creation of
media access and recognition for the program, and access to medical providers.
Reach Out and Read continues its partnership with the Brown-Rudnick Charitable Foundation in 2009 through a
Relationship Grant supporting Reach Out and Read Programs in three cities home to Brown Rudnick Berlack Israels offices: Boston,
New York, and Providence. The grant will provide book purchasing funds, pro bono legal representation, and employee
volunteer involvement.
A leading financial services company, State Street supports Reach Out and Read's work in the Boston area. Their generous
grant enabled Reach Out and Read to help Boston area children grow up with books and a love of reading.
