How can parents work to be more “present”? The Spanish-language show Todo Tampa Bay features Reach Out and Read Florida’s senior educational leader, Dr. Marisel Elias, on eliminating distractions and focusing on moments that matter, like shared reading.
“Reach Out and Read brings new books and, above all, advice on the importance of reading aloud, and they take these books to pediatric clinics to be able to promote what early literacy is,” Dr. Elias said. “They give new books to little children at each routine visit up to five years of age … Pediatricians not only give the books to little patients and their families, but they encourage families to read together.”
